Goulash how to make European Goulash recipe at home. In European countries the people prepare a soup or stew which is seasoned with paprika and other spices and it is a stew of meat and vegetables. This recipe is also popular meal in central Europe, Scandinavia and southern Europe. In the preparation of this dish people produce meat from sheep’s stomach. These stews are commonly served with boiled or mashed potatoes, polenta, spatzle, dumplings or alternatively as a standalone dish with bread.
Goulash recipe Ingredients
- Butter – 3tbsp
- Chopped yellow onions – 1 cup
- Good quality sweet Hungarian paprika – ¼ cup
- Beef – 1 kg cut into ½ inch pieces
- Garlic – 5 cloves
- Red bell peppers – 2
- Yellow bell peppers – 1
- Tomatoes – 2
- Carrots -2
- Beef broth – 5 cups
- Potatoes – 2 medium sizes
- Bay leaves – 2
- Salt to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper – ½ tbsp
Preparation
Step1
Cut the red and yellow bell peppers into ½ inch pieces. Chop onions, carrots, tomatoes and potatoes into ½ inch pieces. Slice the beef into ½ inch chunks.

In deep bowl heat butter add onions fry them until brown for 5 minutes. Remove the bowl from heat and add paprika (don’t fry the paprika because it will turn bitter). After adding the paprika adds beef and garlic and put on flame cook the content for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes add red and yellow bell peppers and cook for 5 minutes. Add some chopped carrots, tomatoes, bay leaves, pepper, beef broth, potatoes and salt to taste and bring them into a boil. Cover the bowl with lid and put heat on medium and simmer for 20 minutes. Dish out the soup and serve with some crusty bread, cool cucumber salad and a dollop of sour cream.
