Pesarattu Upma recipe Cook Pesarattu Upma at home step by step
Pesarattu upma is similar to dosa which is taken as a beak fast and also a snack in India. Green grams are the main ingredient for this recipe. For the preparation of pesarattu first soak the green grams for minimum 8 hours. Add ginger, green chillies for the preparation of batter. Upma is best combination of pesarattu. - Green grams or moong dal – 1 cup
- Raw rice – 1 tbsp
- Water – 2 cups
- Onion – 1 medium
- Green chillies – 2
- Ginger – 1 inch
- Cumin seeds - 1 tbsp
- Salt to taste
- Oil – 4 tbsp

- Upma rava – 1 cup
- Water – 2 cups
- Urad dal – 1 tbsp
- Mustard seeds – ½ tbsp
- Curry leaves – few
- Chopped green chillies – 2
- Chopped onion – 1
- Chopped tomato – 1
- Oil – 3 tbsp
- Chopped coriander
Pesarattu Upma Preparation
Step 1
Wash the moong dal or green grams and raw rice soak them for minimum 10 hours. Remove the green gram from water add chopped onion, chopped green chilies, ginger, cumin seeds and salt to taste. Grind the whole content till it becomes smooth and fine paste. Prepare the batter as a dosa batter and keep it aside.
Step 2
Take a non stick pan for the preparation of upma heat the oil and add urad Dal, mustard seeds and curry leaves fry them for 2 minutes. Add chopped onions and chopped green chillies to the content fry the content till onions are golden color. Now add chopped tomatoes cook for 3 minutes till it becomes soft. Add salt to taste. Now put 2 cups of water and bring them to boil. Add the upma rava and cook the content for 10 minutes till it becomes soft. Mix the content well to remove the lumps. Finally add chopped coriander and take it into a bowl keeps it aside.
Step 3
For the preparation of pesarattu heat a griddle add 1 tbsp of oil and put the pesarattu batter in a griddle and spread the batter into circle. Put 1 tbsp of oil and put some chopped onions, green chillies and chopped garlic in the middle of pesarattu. Fry them till golden colour. Remove the pesarattu from griddle and put the prepared upma on the pesarattu and spread it over the pesarattu. Serve the pesarattu upma with coconut chutney or ginger chutney.
