Beef stew-Indonesian Semur beef stew recipe step by step. Semur is a dish prepared with beef. It is a stew type dish consisting of thick gravy. For the preparation of gravy people use sweet soy sauce, ginger, garlic cloves, onions, nutmeg, cumin, pepper and cinnamon. These ingredients give extra flavor to this gravy and also the whole dish. In the preparation of semur so many variations are there. Some people use fish, eggs and chicken also.
Beef stew Ingredients
- Chopped brown onion – 1 medium
- Ginger – 2 inch
- Garlic cloves – 2
- Grounded pepper – 1 tbsp
- Tomato paste – 2 tbsp
- Vinegar – 1 tbsp
- Sweet soy sauce – ½ cup
- Water – 1 cup
- Oil – 4 tbsp
- Boneless beef chunk – 2 pounds
- Chilli pepper – 1
- Salt to taste
- Brown sugar – 1 tbsp
Beef stew Preparation
Step 1
First wash the boneless beef chunks and cut the chunks into small pieces. Take a small bowl and put the brown sugar and mix it with soy sauce. Mix the content well. Now add a little bit of vinegar. Add chopped ginger, salt and garlic cloves. Mix the whole content well. Add the beef pieces to the content and keep it aside for 30 minutes for marinade.
Step 2
Take the chilli pepper and remove the seeds and cut them into small pieces and chop the onions. Now take a deep non stick pan put some oil heat it. Add the chopped onions and sliced red chilli pepper cook for 5 minutes. Add the grounded pepper and grated garlic cloves fry them for 2 minutes. Now add the marinated beef cook for 5 minutes. If the beef pieces are fried then add tomato paste to the content and cook for 5 minutes. Now add salt to taste, pepper and water. Cook the content for minimum one hour on low flame till the beef is soft and prepared. Serve Beef stew it hot and enjoy the flavor.
