Mutton Paya recipe how to make paya recipe at home

Mutton Paya recipe is a dish made with the hoof of goat or sheep. This dish made with variable spices. Paya is a healthy and traditional Indian dish. In some areas people may serve this dish in festivals and some occasions. We can take this dish as a break fast also. In this dish there is a lot of soup consistence. This soup is very spicy and delicious. We can use the main ingredients for paya are ginger garlic paste, tomatoes, onions, curry powder and some spices. This dish is cooked on low flame for couple of hours. We can serve this dish with plane rice either takes like a soup also. Paya will be garnish with coriander leaves and lemon juice.

Mutton Paya recipe Ingredients

  1. Goat lambs or goat trotters – 6
  2. Chopped onion – 1 medium
  3. Ginger garlic paste – 2 tbsp
  4. Water – 1 litre
  5. Black pepper powder – 1 tbsp
  6. Bay leaves – 2
  7. Oil – 2 tbsp
  8. Cinnamon stick – 1 inch piece
  9. Cardamom – 2
  10. Cloves – 2
  11. Cumin seeds – 1 tbsp
  12. Smashed tomatoes – 2
  13. Red chilli powder – 1 tbsp
  14. Sliced green chillies – 3
  15. Garam masala – 1 tbsp
  16. Coriander powder – 1 tbsp
  17. Cumin powder – 1 tbsp
  18. Turmeric powder – ½ tbsp
  19. Butter – 2 tbsp
  20. Lemon juice – 2 tbsp
  21. Salt to taste
  22. Chopped coriander leaves

Mutton Paya recipe Preparation 

Step 1

First we can make the onions and green chilies paste. So take the chopped onions and green chillies in a blender and make a fine paste. Keep it aside. Now smash the tomatoes keep it aside and use in preparation.

Step 2

Now wash the cutting paya with water. Now put the bay leaves, cinnamon stick, cardamom and cloves fry them for one minute and add the onion and green chilli paste. Cook for 2 minutes and add ginger garlic paste, washed paya, turmeric powder, salt to taste and tomato paste. Cook the content for few minutes. Now add one litre of water and cover the cooker with the lid. Boil the content in low flame for minimum one hour. 

Step 3

Take non stick pan and melt the butter and add cumin seeds, red chilli powder, coriander powder and cumin powder stir fry them for one minute. And mix this content in the paa mixture. And keep them to a boil and add garam masala and a little bit of black pepper powder. Boil the content for 5 minutes. Finally add the chopped coriander leaves and serves the dish with naan, plane rice with a little bit of lemon juice. We can also take this dish as a break fast.
