Mushroom Biryani recipe how to make at home

Mushroom biryani is one of the spicy and tasty South Indian style recipes. We are using the same spices and ingredients for this mushroom biryani. But the additional ingredient is mushrooms. Especially in this Ramzan season every one wants to cook biryani. We are preparing routine biryani recipes. So, here you learn how to cook the mushroom biryani. And it is so simple to prepare.

Mushroom Biryani recipe Ingredients

  1. Sliced mushrooms - 1 cup
  2. Basmati rice – 2 cups
  3. Sliced onions – 2 medium
  4. Chopped tomatoes – 2 small
  5. Mint leaves – 1 cup
  6. Chopped coriander leaves – a bunch
  7. Sliced green chillies – 2
  8. Ginger garlic paste – 2 tbsp
  9. Oil – 4 tbsp
  10. Red chilli powder – 1 tbsp
  11. Salt to taste
  12. Turmeric powder – 1 tbsp
  13. Ingredients for spiciness
  14. Shah jeera – 1 tbsp
  15. Green cardamoms – 3
  16. Cinnamon stick – 1 inch piece
  17. Cloves – 4
  18. Star anise – 1
  19. Garam masala – 1 tbsp
  20. Bay leaves – 2

Mushroom Biryani recipe Preparation 

Step 1

First we wash the basmati rice and soak it on water for minimum 20 minutes. Clean the mushrooms and keep it aside for cooking.

Step 2
Take a deep pan heat oil on it add the spices like shahi jeera, green cardamoms, cinnamon stick, cloves, bay leaves and star anise. Fry them for one minute adds the sliced onions and green chillies fry them till golden brow. Now add ginger garlic paste fry them for one minute. Add sliced tomatoes sauté them till the flavours are disappear. Here we adding the sliced mushrooms and fry those for 2 minutes till the flavours are absorbed by mushrooms. 

Step 2

Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, little bit of garam masala and mix the content well. Add chopped coriander leaves and mint leaves cook for 1 minute. Now add 4 cups of water and salt to taste and bring them to a boil. Whenever the water becomes boiled adds the soaked rice and cook till the rice perfectly. Serve the mushroom biryani in a serving bowl and garnish it with chopped coriander, sliced onions and a little bit of lemon juice.
